Rice Krispies Treats

The Summertime Rice Krispies® Treats Challenge is upon us!! If you remember, I joined up with The Motherhood to participate in the Rice Krispies Making Memories Challenge earlier this year. Four teams across the country made up of four bloggers each competing four times this year to create a new and fantastic Rice Krispies™ Treats recipe the whole family will enjoy.

Team Kansas City consists of me, Kristen from DineandDish, Kelly from KansasCityMamas and Julie from MyKansasCityMommy. We are creative, we love to get in the kitchen and have fun … but the BEST memories that we are making in this challenge is the time we are spending together! We have such a great time together; laughing, talking, goofing around. This has been one of the best blogging decision I have made in a long time!

When the summer challenge came out it was for Summer Family Fun… what better way to get out and have some fun than a picnic in the park? We created our signature Tangy Watermelon Rice Krispies™ Treats for this challenge and ooooooh my! These are YUM! It tastes just like Laffy Taffy… but in an ooey, gooey Rice Krispies™ Treat.

Rice Krispies Treat Picnic

Doesn’t that look YUM?! Well, it IS yummy…. but we were afraid if we took our kids on a picnic with JUST watermelon… they might get a little grumpy… so we threw some burgers in the basket, too.

Rice Krispies Hamburgers

With food this good we had no hope of keeping the ants away…they swarmed all over our picnic blanket!

  7. Summer in Lake Tahoe is very short, therefore if I must enjoy one thing before it is over, I like to have a good old Slurpee from 7Eleven! I know they’re not the healthiest thing but enjoying a Pina Colada Slurpee on a hot summer day is about the best thing someone can do in Lake Tahoe. Now, I know I can get a burger or a hot dog from a fast food restaurant at any time of year, but when the sun is out in Lake Tahoe and the weather is nice (80 degrees for South Lake Tahoe) I love to have a homemade, backyard grill, hamburger or hot dog! nothing like all those wonderful tastes before going for a swim on the lake! thanks for reading! :) and I definitely tweeted! @JairJaimes is my name thanks!
