Tag…A Little Get to Know You

Posted in Blog | 8 comments

I’ve been Tagged! Jaycie at CouponGeek tagged me at the end of last week…my kiddos have been sick so I’ve taken a little time putting it together! It turns out that seven things is quite a lot…so I threw in some things about my family which I think make me interesting by association! ;)

These are the rules for tagging…
1) Link back to the person who tagged you and share the rules on your blog
2) Share 7 facts about yourself
3) Tag seven people and list their links in your post
4) Tell those 7 people by commenting on their blog!

So here are the 7 things about me:

1)I am a stay at home mom to my two kiddos, Brendan and Lillian. Lilli will be one the day after Christmas and Brendan will be three, three weeks later. By the grace of God and my very supportive husband, Eric, I am able to stay home and spend these very fleeting first years with them.

2)My sister is 13 years younger than me…and our weddings were two years apart.

3)My wedding was on my one year anniversary! Brendan was the ring bearer, our flower girl pulled him down the isle in a decked out RadioFlyer wagon.

4)I worked in social service for 8 years, mainly with pregnant and parenting teens in the custody of the state. 6 of those years I was Executive Director of two different group homes. If I knew then what I know now about being a mommy…I would have done things MUCH differently.

5)I reaaalllly liked the color black when I was in high school…and at one point shaved the lower half of my hair. I really thought it was cool. *sheepish grin*

6)When I had Brendan I suffered from a DVT after emergency c-section…an infection in the incision…then a secondary infection which turned out to be MRSA. I was on IV antibiotics daily for nearly two months and PUMPED AND DUMPED in order to keep my milk supply so I could continue breastfeeding my son. I suffered through 5 bouts of mastitis, one on my wedding day, until I finally gave up on breastfeeding him at 8 months. I have been breastfeeding Lilli for 10.5 months with 2 very small run-ins with mastitis…and we are going strong!!

7)My brother is a clown/actor and has a production company in Brooklyn: Under the Table Theatre. He travels all over the world doing physical theatre: teaching, acting and directing and writing. My favorite adventure of his is when he went to Africa with Clowns Without Borders. They traveled around and performed at orphanages full of children that had been orphaned by AIDS. They did comedy as well as AIDS education through their skits. He checked a bag at the airport with 500 red noses in it to hand out to the kids.

There you have it. Since I’ve been on Twitter I have found so many interesting new blogs…so I’m going to send some of the Tags their way…as a way of me getting to know them as well as broadening the circle of bloggy love. You can link to their blogs and, if they have them, their Twitter handle.

If you have been tagged before, feel free to ignore…if you haven’t…please play along!

  1. Beautiful family photo!

  2. Love the photo, Jen!

And, just a side note, your brother’s theatre group is the one that my brother performed/worked with his first year in NY (as DJ Monkey).

    Weird connection, no?

  3. That is crazy, Justine! Small world…I know who DJ Monkey is!! :)

  4. I got to your blog off the link from CouponGeek. I am somewhat new to couponing and am learning how to find deals, be creative, and save $. Our kids are pretty much the same age! My son will be one a couple days before Christmas and my daughter turns 3 in Jan. Hope your kids are feeling better.

  5. Thanks for the tag love! I’ll be doin this tag!

  6. Wow, sounds like you had a much worse battle with mastitis than I have, but my first and only bout was pretty bad too – resulting in surgery after three days in the hospital! I’m glad to hear that you don’t have as many problems this time around.

  7. I just want you to know that I think your comment about our weddings being 2 years apart makes me sound like some kind of weirdo that got married at age 14. I suppose I love you anyway. :-*

  8. Announcement: My Sister is 21 years old…not a weirdo 14 yo who got married cult-style. I am OLD which explains the 13 year difference in our ages…and makes the two year difference in our wedding times interesting, to me. Polar opposites, if you will.

    I love you to, Liss.
